Hi, I'm Rosa Sonntag.
I develope textile + leather goods in close collaboration with craft workshops, textile mills, creative hubs, research institutes, and independent creatives. Driven by a passion for sewing, I became a true textile nerd: I am a trained bespoke tailor and a design engineer for textiles.
Always moving between craft and industry, I combine manual and digital development processes. Each place I work is not just a workplace, but an opportunity to explore production and communication processes more deeply.
Longevity is central to every product I create. Not only for sustainable reasons, also from pure curiosity: Understanding how things are made, and how they could be made differently. Photography is an important way for me to express myself alongside soft materials. Besides documenting the development and production I show my personal perspective of these processes.
-> Zooming in
I focus on JACQUARD WEAVING, where complex technology becomes a playground for creativity.
-> Zooming out
I take on different positions in the textile and leather fields, to develop a holistic understanding of materials and processes.
Always curious, always learning.
I am currently based in Hamburg-Altona. Next year in Geretsried.
