This garment is designed to enhance the stadium experience for people with hearing impairments. Developed by an interdisciplinary student team, the vest translates sound intensity, such as goal cheers, into gentle vibrations in the upper back using Arduino-based wearable electronics.
The vest incorporates a microphone sensor, vibration motors, and a control interface, allowing wearers to engage more with the atmosphere of a live football match. This project explores how sensory substitution and smart textiles can create inclusive experiences through interactive garment design.
This project was supported by the electrical wholesaler Sonepar, which cooperates with the football club Borussia Mönchengladbach.
